Michele Bachmann says Cuba has terrorist missiles
Immigrants and gays and missiles, oh my! Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann spoke in Iowa this week, and she added a new item to her list of American enemies: Cuban terrorist missiles?
At a campaign stop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa yesterday, the Republican hopeful warned that the US should stray from a deal that would normalize trade between the US and Cuba. After all, says Bachman, they could soon be harboring missiles made to be launched by terrorists aligned to the Shi’a militant group Hezbollah.
Bachmann’s assumption comes from a news story printed in the Italian press earlier in September in which the publication Corriere della Sera alleged that Cuba is in cahoots with the terrorist organization. That story, however, was completely unsubstantiated and without confirmation or concrete proof. Of course, the only outlets that turned it around to the American public were a handful of conservative websites.
Regardless, Bachmann seems baffled that the US could consider trading once again with those pesky commies to the south of Florida.
“Why would you normalize trade with a country that sponsors terror?” she asked supporters on Monday. “There is reports that have come out that Cuba has been working with another terrorist organization ca rolex watches lled Hezbollah. And Hezbollah is looking at wanting to be part of missile sites in Iran and, of course, when you are 90 miles offshore from Florida, you don’t want to entertain the prospect of hosting bases or sites where Hezbollah could have training camps or perhaps have missile sites or weapons sites in Cuba. ”
America doesn’t want to entertain that prospect, right? Bachmann adds that the notion would be “foolish.”
Speaking of foolish, it should also be noted that nowhere in the original story out of Italy does it say anything about missiles. Is Bachmann trying to make Cuban Missile Crisis 2.0 part of her campaign by creating it? At this point, does she have anyone new to attack anyway?
Earlier this year, Bachmann made a point of saying she wasn’t too keen on commies. That’s why while speaking with Christian radio host Jay Sekulow in August she said that China and “the rise of the Soviet Union” pose a threat to the American milit rolex watches ary.
Last week Bachmann blasted Cuba rolex watches again, calling the nation a “state sponsor of terror” during the GOP debate hosted by Google and Fox News. She was responding to former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson’s statement that he could be in favor of allowing charter flights between the two countries. rolex watches
ABC News reported that only around 50 people came to her Cedar Rapids rally. Meanwhile most polls have eliminated Bachmann from the top tier of GOP candidates.
